Thermo King Northeast Plays Vital Role in Feeding Community Members During Pandemic

Thermo King Northeast, a division of DATTCO, has been donating a freezer trailer to Pauline’s Stockpot Kitchen in East Windsor, CT, to help them properly store the large amounts of perishable food donations they received every week during the pandemic.

As the pandemic enveloped our world in uncertainty and people lost their jobs, Pauline’s Stockpot Kitchen quickly grew from serving 6,000 pounds of food per year to over 100,000 pounds per MONTH! As the holidays approached and the donations increased, the mission’s organizers quickly realized they needed a solution for storing perishable goods. This was when they approached Thermo King Northeast of Windsor Locks for assistance.

“There was no question that Thermo King Northeast could step in and help make this operation a success. We delivered a temperature-controlled trailer (from our line of Penguin Trailer rentals) to Pauline’s Kitchen, providing them with the storage space they desperately needed. We were honored to be able to play such a critical role in helping our neighbors during this unprecedented time,” said John Crudden, Sales Representative for Thermo King Northeast.

“All our success is based on one factor – freezer space. It has provided Pauline’s with the opportunity to seamlessly take in large donations and distribute the food out before the next load. It has allowed us to feed 1,000s of people beyond East Windsor borders, including Norwich, Plainville, New Britain, Hartford, and Manchester,” said Angelo DiMauro Jr., Director of Pauline’s Stockpot Kitchen. “I sincerely appreciate everything you have allowed us to accomplish, all the lives you have affected, all the folks you helped us feed.”

The need to feed families is not going away anytime soon as the pandemic continues to challenge the lives of many.  Pauline’s Kitchen will continue to keep its operation going for as long as donations continue to come in. It has truly taken a village to make this happen over the last year, and several area businesses and individual community members have stepped up to donate money and food, as well as volunteer time. Thermo King Northeast, as part of Thermo King Corporate’s We Move Food initiative, is proud to have contributed alongside The Wesley United Methodist Church and its members (home to Pauline’s Kitchen), Foodshare of Bloomfield, TBC Landscape of East Windsor, South Windsor Masons, and Harp Services of Windsor Locks.
